Myth Match: A Fantastical Flipbook of Extraordinary Beasts. We had the idea to make a flip book of mythical beasts that would have over 1000 different possibilities, with the reader being able to create their own combinations of beasts. The text descriptions would also need to work and make sense for every combination. We wanted to interpret some old classics, such as a Griffin or a Unicorn, but then they add in some less well known creatures like the Bakeneko or Wolpertinger. Below are some work in progress shots. They were all painted with ink, watercolours and fine liner pen.

The book was commissioned by Laurence King and published in 2018 and is aimed at kids 7-12 years old, but we think everyone can enjoy it!  It's been translated into French, Italian, Dutch and German. Below are some of the final images and book.
